This is Deluxe 8061 48’SS Cntr CR Mercury 2/. 48′ smooth-side container, Conrail (Mercury scheme, white, blue). 2-pack, ready to run. Conrail was the largest intermodal carrier in the US by the mid-80s. Mercury service was started in 1989, specializing in door-to-door and customized service for the US Postal Service using dedicated trailers and containers. These 48′ domestic dry boxes were the first step in higher capacity containers in the competitive domestic shipping market. 48′ intermodal containers are among the large intermodal shipping containers in use today. They’re great loads for modern intermodal double-stack well cars and a must for realistic terminal scenes. Each package includes two prepainted and assembled containers.
