Description
This is a Broadway Limited 85 HO Scale Santa Fe Paragon Series Steam 2-10-4 with Oil Tender; Powered with Sound & DCC #3829. The success of its New 2-10-2s led the Santa Fe to experiment further, and engine #3829 came from the factory in 1919 equipped with a larger four-wheel trailing truck, creating the first 2-10-4. This experimental engine remained in service through 1955.
Introduced in 1919 by Baldwin locomotive Works in North America, the 2-10-4 would quickly find itself as a mainstay in railyards all over the world — being commissioned in North America, South America, Europe, and Africa! The North American models were introduced for the Atchison and Topeka & Santa Fe railways initially, but would find themselves on various other railways as well. The production of these models was briefly halted during the Great Depression in the 1930s, but would see a fresh breath of life again in 1938 with steel production and locomotive manufacturing picking back up. With a handful of these models in a preservation status, this is your chance to get one running on the rail yards again with this masterfully crafted O-Gauge replica!
