Here is a MTH 20-3028-1 O Gauge Jersey Central 4-6-2 Blue Comet Steam Locomotive & Tender #833 with ProtoSound 1. Features include a high performance Pittman Motor, precision ball bearing equipped gear box, operating Proto-Smoke system, operating marker lights, firebox glow and tender backup light, die-cast metal trucks, chassis, remote controlled Proto-coupler, metal wheels and axles.
This locomotive does not include DCS (Digital Command System) features because it has ProtoSound 1.0. Only locomotives with ProtoSound 2.0 and ProtoSound 3.0 include DCS functions.
Introduced in its prototype form in the late 19th century, the 4-6-2 would take the world by storm at the turn of the 20th century, being seen as one of the biggest innovation in the history of locomotives — the 4-6-2 would quickly finds its place in rail-yards across the world. Heralded for its ability to haul passengers, the 4-6-2 was a versatile model hauling freight and coal as well, with tank variants being introduced later during the 20th century. Traveling at speeds upwards of 100mph the 4-6-2 was featured on rail-ways ranging from Argentina to Egypt, and all the way to the far East in China!
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. There are light scratches, nicks and small bubbles in the paint throughout this model. This model has been run sparingly and shows light wear on the wheels & pickups from previous use. There is heavy dust residue throughout the construction, and on the wheels and pickups. This model might have been on display unboxed somewhere for a while based on how dusty it is. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning.
